Training Mindset

At the beginning of each year as we begin to ramp up our training and work on lengthening our running distances, we all fight that little voice that doubts that we ever will be able to run long again 😃 But with trust and faith in your training program and an ever growing trust in your body, surely and gradually your fitness improves and those Saturday runs become more enjoyable.

As a seasoned runner we know this will come to be, however what about our new runners who have never run long before. Those who have set goals to run 10 k or a half marathon for the very first time and now wonder each time they run, how will I end up running double this distance or more!

Just the same way that we all began, remember these simple tips.

1. Don't get ahead of yourself, concentrate on today's run
2. Follow the training program, trust the gradual process, it's about consistency
3. Talk and trust the wisdom of the seasoned runners about you. They know you can do it, because they can, so of course you could too. Believe in yourself  through action and daily positive affirmations that are as simply as " I am a runner"

If all else fails to reassure your  concerns, you are welcome to book a coffee date with Coach Colleen to have a chat.

 Warwick Pentath-run 2014
Hi Everyone

We are pleased to announce that registrations are now open for the 2014 Pentath-Run. There are 120 days to go to the start of this years event so there is still plenty of time for training.

Details on this years race can be found on our website at

www.pentathrun.com
You can register now Click Here to Register for this Event
We are now into our 12th year and looking forward to seeing the return of all those familiar faces who have been here before. Of course we always welcome new runners (everyone has to have a first time) and hopefully we can convert you into regulars as well.

The current committee is now on it's second year of organising the event so we expect to do a better job this time around. President Karen Gilchrist had the following to say about why she was keen to volunteer to help organise this years event. "It's amazing how much an event like the Pentath has to offer. There are not many running events where you can choose to test yourself over two days. For beginners there is a race type to suit almost all goals from the shorter cross country up to the half marathon distance. The weather is ideal for a running event (nice and cool to sometimes chilly)".

We are pleased to let everyone know that we are moving the Cross Country to the local town of Allora and will be running it at their golf course. We felt it was time to try something a "little" new and so we hope you all like this small change to the event. Rest assured all the other races are the same time and place.

Please note we are still in the process of updating some areas of our website and things like the race information kit will be available soon. Please let me know if you do see something that is wrong (like I have forgotten to change the date from 2013).

Like all events we need the your support so if you are going to register this year and come along great. Also if you could forward this on to anyone you know who may be interested then please do so.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Regards

Neil Burtenshaw
