Leaving the Brisbane Airport last Friday - excited was an understatement!

In Hyde Park on the way to collect our race packs from the Expo - the Marathon Girls ran through this park as part of the course on Sunday.

Race Day happened before we knew it!  There was much excitement on the morning, catching the city train across to the other side of the bridge for the start.  The Marathon Girls had a blast - here they are at 32k and still smiling!  Way to go!

This photo is taken as the girls came up to 41k.  How wonderful to see the bridge in the background.

Of course, we pulled out the tutu's! Julie, Alexia and Betty tied them on to the girls at 41k and boy! did the crowds love us running in our tutu's.  The air was electric.  The girls felt like celebrities are they ran the last 1k towards the Opera House.

Alexia and Julie had a wonderful experience running the half marathon while Betty and Bruce found the 9k crowded but still loved the experience. We all made it to the Opera House!

Standing on the stairs of the Opera House - wohoo! Please note that was as far as we could walk up the flight of steps - too sore to  go further! Who's the little guy? - Lance's teddy bear - Stanley - a new mascot for the GGG's.

The End!

More photos and the girls own stories to come over the next few days!

Did you hear? - our return flight was cancelled due to severe weather in QLD - we were held over in Sydney for about 4 hrs - oh please don't worry - there was a Pandora Shop at the airport!
