The Club's Newest Marathoners!

Congratulations to our lovely Jo and Megan.  This photo was taken while they were still teary after just completing the Sydney Marathon.  What an incredible journey they took to achieve this goal.  No wonder there were tears galore from everyone!

These two beautiful women showed true grit and determination to follow their dream of running a marathon.

Jo endured many set backs this year with her training.  Shin splints prevented her from training for the last 3 1/2 weeks before marathon day.  Intensive physio, chiro and massage saw her body behave on the day. However it was her wonderful mindset that truly saw her shine as a Marathoner.

While Megan managed to stumble on broken pavement, literally hours before the start! Injuring her ankle, already weakened from a previous injury.  In  Megan's lead up, she had organised her mother to travel across from Toowoomba most weekends since Hubby was on shut down, to look after young Finn so she could complete her long runs with the club.

So each of the girls had many obstacles and barriers to face along the journey.
It highlights that determination, courage and committment  are essential when making that decision to run a marathon.

GGG say Thank You  for the example you  set and for the inspiration you will have given others.

Kerry and Colleen extend an even bigger Thank You,  its for the privilege and honour to have shared your first marathon experience with  both.  A lot of treasured memories are forever etched in our minds - its was truly a wonderful, joyous and  FUN five hour run! And we did eventually find that Opera House!

Coach Colleen had her morning's work cut out for her, taping the girls together before the marathon!
