Counting KJ's in our food

Carbohydrates 16 KJ's per gram

Protein 17KJ's per gram

ALCOHOL 29KJ's per gram

Fat 37KJ's per gram

This is the amount of energy these nutrients  provide our bodies with in order to function.

Remember Alcohol is an empty nutrient, that is,  it doesn't contribute to your health. Your body struggles to process the energy alcohol dumps on your body - in other words its highly fattening!
So enjoy your Chrissie drinks however perhaps remember not to  blame alone  the indulgence in  christmas food if you gain weight  over Christmas, consider how many drinks you have consumed.
