We all lapse with our motivation for exercise from time to time, however why do some continue exercising regardless, while others just stop (and then begins the old fret cycle - "oh I should do something" but I'll continue to sit here on the computer or in front of the tv or at the coffee shop with my coffee and cake!)
Motivation does come and go but by creating a habit, is becomes lifestyle forming.
When you don't feel like running, exercising or training, look for an alternative to help you move!
- I'm sure everyone has a few Exercise DVD's hidden in the cupboard - put one on and follow - no thinking what will I do - just enjoy the music and move.
- Simply walk out the door and go for a walk - something is better than nothing. Find a hill and walk up and down it 4 times and then go home. Congrats you've just done a short interval workout that will do wonders for fat burning and your heart health.
- Do something different to your normal routine to reignite your passion. Hop on a pushbike, go for a swim, put on your roller blades, use the rowing machine or step machine you have hidden in the cupboard.
- What is important is just to move - don't become a potato couch just because your motivation has left you briefly - keep your emotions in check - don't have an extreme reaction to a week where you don't feel as enthusiastic as usual - go to bed earlier for a couple of nights - eat a good quality meal with protein and loads of vegies - breathe deeply and relax! You can get back on track!
