It's official! Go Getta Girls' Founder and Coach, Colleen Gunn was selected for the Maryborough phone book which includes Kingaroy and Murgon Districts. Sensis calls for nominations from the community each year and this year the theme was Keeping our Communities Healthy. It aims to recognise people who go above and beyond to improve the quality of life for others living in their area.
Colleen said, " Its was such a surprise but very exciting to be selected. This cover validates that that our running club, Go Getta Girls is something wonderful and its great to be recognised for our contribution to women's health in our community. Our photo shot was last November so we have had to keep our selection secret for so long, its wonderful now that our community will soon receive their phone books and see our fabulous members on the cover"
Colleen chose to be with her in the photo, the other volunteer Club Coaches - Joanne Sellick, Julie Stenning, Vicki Ramke and Kerry Stumm. Plus second longest standing Club member, Donna Clark, who joined the club in its second week of inception.
"Yes I may have founded this amazingly women's running club but its with these wonderful women and others that the club has become all that it is! Its supportive, fun, safe and caring while offering motivation, knowledge and most importantly a wonderful friendship network."
"Our club not only focuses upon exercise and health but we feel a responsibility to do our part to fundraise for cancer causes. Our club is very proud to have previously raised money for Relay for Life and now, we have stepped up to host annually the National Mother's Day Classic fun run/walk, here in Kingaroy"
"It's a very busy time for the club at present with final preparations for the Mother's Day Classic on Sunday May 12 and then the following weekend, myself and 6 other club members are off to do the Great Ocean Road Marathon in Victoria. "
