Big Weekend

This weekend has been a busy one for many members, beginning with the Orana Raylene Boyle Olympian Dinner on Friday night.

As was expected the food was fabulous and the guest speaker, Raylene was gracious and inspiring.
Raylene was a calm, interesting and entertaining speaker.  She shared her life story, in particular  her Olympic years and what training was involved.

Raylene said she was blessed  with genetic talent, giving her the ability to travel across ground as fast as she did.  Raylene is certainly a mind strong woman, who knew her goals and then set about to achieve them with sheer determination and undoubting confidence.

Raylene also shared her health issues she has dealt with in her later life, including 3 bouts of cancer - breast and ovarian, heart issues and now epilepsy.  But her message was loud and clear, there is no point dwelling as it won't change anything rather do what is needed and keep moving forward!

The night finished with a lovely highlight, when Colleen won  the raffle!  The prize included a photo of Colleen  taken with Raylene, to be framed and autographed.  How special!

Photos below from the night.

Pinkies Triathlon - Sunday

Kerry, Vicki, Donna, Gertie, Katy, Veronica, Sammie, Tahnee, Cherie, Jenni and Wendy K -all participated in the triathlon and from all reports, most were happy with thier efforts.  Even though the day was rather hot, all did finish and most importantly raised money for Breast Cancer.

Colleen, Jo, Margie, Angela, Judy, Betty, Tina and Michelle travelled across on the morning to participate in the 5k fun run.  Donning thier tutu's and stripey club singlets, the girls certainly stood out in the crowd.

It was a very special  for the girls to finish the fun run with Michelle, who is bravely about to embark on her chemotherapy for Breast Cancer.  However,  before she does begin her treatment, Michelle does have a lovely highlight occuring this week with the arrival on Wednesday of a grandchild!
