Mindset - Luxury or Necessity?

There has been a lot of chitter chatter amongst our members -" oh isn't SHE amazing, isn't SHE inspiring, isn't it wonderful what SHE has achieved...."

Yes, Angela is inspiring because of her age but why is this so surprising to our members that she is still running when our club's philosophy is "We are Runners for Life".  Our club is blessed that we have someone there reminding us that it is possible to run forever!

Yes, Michelle is inspiring because she just keeps following her goals, at her our pace, never comparing herself to others. But why is this so surprising when one of our club values is Greatness - it's about making goals, challenging ones self and achieving great things on our own personal journey.   Our club is blessed that we have someone there  reminding us that it is about personal challenge and achievement.  It doesn't matter what pace you run - its all about consistency. And you can still achieve your personal goals whether you run at the front or the back of the group.

Yes, Tina is inspiring because she commits to the training and has the freedom to express out loud that she is proud of her achievements.  Again but why is this so surprising when our code of conduct encourages all members to contribute to a safe, harrassment free, non judgemental environment within our club. The club is a place that offers inspiration, support and tools to become the runner, you wish to be. Our club is blessed that we have someone there  reminding us that we have created an environment that is safe where members can express their personal joy and satisfactory and we  join in the celebrations selflessly.

Believe -  believe in your goals -  believe in your training.
Training that will set your body in movement and ultimately brings you to a place where you will  achieve belief in yourself and your abilities.
Learn your strengths but also your  limitations -  build a relationship with your body and  nuture it both physically and mentally.  Believe in yourself unconditionally.  Accept the runner you are right NOW today but also hold onto the knowledge that we are ever changing - our fitness ebs and flows.
But hold onto this thought-

I am a runner. I am a runner for life. I am a Go Getta Girl.
Jo Sellick.   Our club is blessed that we have members who come up with the most amazing inspirational thoughts while running,  This says it all!
