The Half Girls before the start waiting in the dark (Korina and Pauline not in picture).
Jo and Megan when they came through the 19k mark.
Korina and Polly as they came through at 19k - how good do they look!
There were 7845 participants in the Half Marathon. How fantastic for these GGG's to do their first race at Australia's largest Marathon event! All our GGG were finished between 2:05 to 2:27. What an amazing effort!
The nervous Marathon Girls before the start. That's Kirstin in the middle (our Crybaby GGG who nows lives at the Gold Coast)
Kerry at about 40k - still managing a smile though she was doing it tough. Kirsten picked up Vicki at around 39k for company - there's nothing like GGG support and extra special when its your Mum!
There were 4521 participants in the Marathon and Kerry placed 2867 with her 4:21 finish time - wohoo!
Special thanks must go to all our wonderful support crew on the day - Len as seen here ran 10k with Donna, Lance and Barry who were out on the course in the earlier stages to swap water bottles, take photos and cheer on their Marathon girls. Vicki and Athol had the extra stress of ongoing first aid to keep Kirstin on the road - she has a calf injury. Brad, Shannon, John and Finn who cheered the running girls as they came past our accomodation. The Gunn children who cheered with almighty gusto reminding the Marathoners how proud we are of them. To all the Half Marathon Girls who after their race got themselves organised along the Marathon course to support Kerry, Donna and Kirsten. To Betty who unfortunately couldn't participate in the Half due to illness, had the added special-ness that her hubby and two daughter completed the half marathon too. And of course Coach Colleen was there - how special was our weekend - sharing a wonderful experience not only with our fellow GGG's but with our families!
