Christmas Message

What an amazing year GGG's has had....

Currently we can say that all regular members can run 1k non stop, all bar the latest intake can run 5k (and the newest Ladies aren't far from this goal, either) and all Saturday runners can run 10k!

Three Beginner Programs where held with approx 65 women registering, approximately 75% joined the club.

Eight race events were attended by various members- Peak to Park, Toowoomba, Warwick Pentharun, Doomben Half Marathon Championship, Gold Coast Airport Marathon, Brisbane Marathon, Bridge to Brisbane and Jetty to Jetty, Redcliffe.

Two local events were supported by the club with our participation - Rotary Run, Ride and Walk and Relay for Life.  Both events raise money for the Cancer Council.   GGG's raised over $3000 towards this cause this year.

GGG recieved support from many local organisations - Struddy's, Sandra Mackay, Furniture Court/Beds R Us, Tarong Energy, Express Embroidery, Sandra Langton, Burton's, IGA, Rotary, CFM Radio, RSL. We are extemely appreciative of their support.

We also won a grant from the CWA and Woolworths which enabled us to purchase equipment to support our strength and conditioning program held on Tuesdays.  Further plans are to incorporate the use of this equipment into our community circuit program that commences next year in Feb.

4 members ran their first half marathon - Kerry, Jo, Julie and Vicki.  Jo and Kerry at Warwick in May and Julie and Vicki at Doomben in June.  Congratulations!

3 GGG's ran their first Marathon - Kirstin, Kerry and Colleen.  Kirsten at the Gold Coast Marathon in July.  Kerry and Colleen at the Brisbane Marathon in August.

Many personal  goals were achieved and celebrated throughout the year with members achieving 1k ,5k or 10k running goals.  Its exciting to see so many women becoming runners and much more exciting to see when they realise they are runners!

September GGG's celebrated 3 years with a very successful  breakfast morning changed to Colleen's, in true haste due to the poor weather.

October sadly we said goodbye to Letitia when she returned to America.  One year goes so fast!

November was the 1st Anniversary of  leasing our clubhouse in the park.  2010 will see us again continue our agreement with the council to lease the building.

During the year, Colleen  completed further qualifications to support the club's activities including Level 1 Strength and Conditioning Coaching with the ASCA Inc and a Sports Medicine Australia accredition as a Sports First Aider.  Five members also completed their General Coaching Priniciples certificates and have begun thier Level 1 Athletics Accredition to be finalised in 2010. This is an exciting prospect for the  club that more Coaches will be available in the future to support our various programmes and large membership.

Each and everyone of us gives an unique and wonderful aspect to our club, everyone is an important part of making the club what it is.  So continue to grow in your belief of yourself  as a runner, remember to stop and celebrate all that you have achieved to become the runner you are today,  Continue to inspire other women by showing your commitment to regular exercise.  Enjoy your journey, who knows where it will ultimately take you -friendships, health, inner happiness, personal challenge, belief.........

Merry Christmas, my fellow GGG's - have a restful break, give thanks for all that you have and here's to a wonderful 2010, cheers!
